Azaad Liadi’s equalizer in the 77th minute lifted Portland Hearts of Pine to a 1-1 draw with AV Alta FC in a USL League One match on Saturday night in Lancaster, California.
AV Alta FC (4-3-4) got on the board in the 39th minute when Emmanuel Alaribe rebounded teammate Eduardo Blanca’s initial shot past Hearts goalkeeper Hunter Morse.
After several attempts were thwarted by AV Alta FC’s back line, Portland broke through in the 77th minute, when Ollie Wright’s laser across the top of the 6-yard box found Liadi, who drove the ball home in the top-right corner.
The final minutes were back-and-forth, with both teams getting quality chances in stoppage time, but Morse and AV Alta FC keeper Carlos Avilez kept their squads in the game.
Portland next visits Rhode Island FC on Friday in the group stage of the USL Jägermeister Cup.
