Boyd Anthony Harrington

NORRIDGEWOCK – Boyd Anthony Harrington, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2025, at the age of 85.

Boyd was born in Newport News, Va., May 6, 1940, the son of Mark and Frances “Cookie” Harrington. He graduated from Morse High School, Class of 1958, where he was a three-sport lettered athlete, and Ricker College with a bachelor’s degree in Education in 1962.

Boyd began his career as a Math and Science teacher at Princeton High School in Maine, where he met his loving wife of 61 years, Donna. He also coached the varsity boys’ basketball team. He transitioned to have a 40-plus year career in the Maine Pulp and Paper industry, working at Georgia-Pacific, SD Warren and Industrial Packing.

Additional interests included clam digging throughout high school, utilizing his Registered Maine Guide license, sawing lumber with his portable sawmill and buying/selling land.

Boyd was known for his great love of the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, trapping, lobstering, gardening, planting trees, and placing numerous bird houses throughout Maine. He was very generous, often bringing unexpected treats to family and friends. Boyd cherished time spent at the family cottage in his childhood hometown of Phippsburg, having lobster cookouts, family reunions, and utilizing his recreational lobster license. He held a lifetime pass to the Skowhegan State Fair, where he entered his prize-winning vegetables and tested his luck at harness racing. He received his Past Masters Apron in Freemasonry in 1973. He had many talents, including woodworking, with many of his picnic tables and birdhouses still in use today. His most treasured past-time was following, bragging about, and spending time with his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an animal lover, pampering several dogs and cats throughout his life.

Boyd is survived by his loving wife, Donna; his children, Beth Lambert (Trent Clukey), Jill (Patrick) Manuel and Anthony (Michele) Harrington; his siblings, Richard “Joe” Harrington and Randy (Barbara) Harrington; in-laws, Sue (predeceased Jimmy) Holmes; his grandchildren, Morgan (Gus) Benson, Dillon (Ciera) Lambert, Kyler Harrington, Anna and Caleb Manuel; great-grandchildren, Weston, Wynne, Charlee and Gavin; his nieces and nephews, Mark, Amy, Ava, Clark and Katie. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

A celebration of Boyd’s life, immediately followed by a reception, will be held at Somerset County Valley Remembrance Center, 19 Washburn Lane, Skowhegan, ME 04976, on Saturday, June 28 at 11 a.m.
