Dianne Morse Eakin

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – Dianne Morse Eakin, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Bonita Springs, Florida, on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Born on Dec. 1, 1937, in Burlington, Vt., Dianne spent many cherished years in Augusta, Maine, before she and her husband moved to Bonita Springs. Her life was filled with love for her family and friends, tennis, singing, and of course, chocolate.

A dedicated and accomplished student, Dianne was honored with membership in every Class Honorary Society for Women beginning in her sophomore year of college, culminating in her induction into Mortar Board, a prestigious national society, during her senior year. She belonged to the Phi Beta Psi sorority and graduated from University of Vermont.

She married the love of her life, David Eakin, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing in 1998. Together, they raised their family and built a life rich in love and community in Augusta, Maine.

Dianne spent her summers in Ocean Point, Maine, a place that brought her great joy. There, she played tennis, golf, and bridge, enjoyed the company of her neighbors and longtime friends, and especially loved hosting family reunions that brought her siblings and their families together for laughter, raucous croquet and Pictionary games that created many cherished memories. She brought her same passions to her Bonita Springs community. A passionate singer, Dianne lent her voice to church choirs throughout her life and brought comfort and joy to many through her Florida years with her beloved “Keytones,” a group that performed in nursing homes.

Dianne believed strongly that kindness mattered. Those who knew Dianne will remember her not just for what she did, but for how she made them feel—welcomed, valued, and loved. She was a great one for keeping in touch with friends, be it high school, University of Vermont, Augusta, Maine and her many dear friends from Ocean Point.

She is survived by her brother and his wife, Steve and Maggie Morse of Colorado; her daughter, Debra DiPietro of The Villages, Fla., her son, Douglas Eakin of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Dianne. She was predeceased by her husband David, and her twin brother Denton Morse.
