Jane B. Jack
BOWDOIN – Jane B. Jack, 71, of Bowdoin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Feb. 28, 2025, at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick.
She was born in Caribou on Jan. 5, 1954, the daughter of the late Louis (Pinkham) and Alton Bridges.
Jane attended Hall-Dale High School and graduated in 1972. Jane later attended the University of Maine and graduated in 1976 as a Registered Nurse. Jane worked as an RN from 1976 to 1994 at Augusta General Hospital. While working at the hospital, she worked in the ER, OR, and CCU. Jane also worked for the Phoenix House and Crossroads. Later in life, Jane worked for several years at Rocky’s Ace Hardware in the gardening department until 2020.
She married Ronald Jack in Hollowell on Nov. 3, 1978. They later divorced in 2000 but remained best friends.
Jane enjoyed hobbies such as basket making, rug knitting, and gardening. Jane loved sitting on the deck at camp, drinking her morning cup of coffee while watching a cow moose she nicknamed “Matilda”.
Jane loved animals and owned several horses and dogs over the years. Jane adored her latest dog, a black lab mix named “Nina”, whom she had rescued from Georgia.
Jane’s proudest accomplishment in her life was the adoption of her two sons from Calcutta, India, Nathaniel and Bill. If you knew Jane at all, she would commonly tell you how lucky she was and how proud she was to be their mother. Jane’s newest love of her life was her only granddaughter, Nyla Jane. Jane loved spending time with her and would often post photos of her online or send them to family. Jane was a devoted mother and loved being a grandmother. Jane spent most of her time with Ron. You would often find the two of them together running errands, camping, fishing, gardening, and spending quality time with their sons and granddaughter.
Jane is survived by her former husband, Ronald Jack, of Bowdoin; her sons Nathaniel of Nobleboro and William of Mt. Vernon; her brother, William Bridges, of Alana, her sister, Eleanor Williams, of Augusta; nephew, Kenneth Williams; and granddaughter, Nyla.
Jane’s family will be hosting a celebration of her life on July 20, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bowdoinham Masonic Hall located at 13 Main St., Bowdoinham.
