Connelly Early allowed zero hits over six innings as the Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 3-1 in the teams’ series finale Sunday in Binghamton, New York.
Early (6-1, 1.94 ERA) struck out seven batters and waked three. Relievers Jeremy Wu-Yelland and Christopher Troye combined to strike out seven over three innings.
Max Ferguson homered for Portland (36-37), while Allan Castro and Mikey Romero had three hits apiece.
Jack Wenninger (7-5, 2.97) allowed seven hits and two runs, both earned, for Binghamton (49-24), which had only four hits, all singles.
