DesAnges “Dee” M. White

AUGUSTA – DesAnges “Dee” M. White, 90, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, with family by her side. DesAnges was born at her family home on August 1, 1934, daughter of Edmond and Malvina (Lachance) Coulombe. Affectionately known as “Dee” to her friends, she grew up in Augusta and attended the St. Augustine School. She soon met her best friend and true love, William “Bill” F. White, III. at Island Park in Winthrop. On November 27, 1954, they married and lived in Togus, eventually settling in Winthrop where together they raised two children.

DesAnges was a dedicated and hard-working homemaker and worked different jobs as a caregiver. Those included Augusta General Hospital and Niles Nursing Home in Winthrop. She attained her CNA while living in California where she also worked in the health care field.

DesAnges had a passion for nature, especially gardening. She worked at Stinchfield’s Green House in Winthrop, tending to the gardens and helping customers. She also worked at Chick Orchards in Monmouth, picking and packing apples in the Fall. Attending church regularly Desanges was a devout Catholic throughout her life.

Until his passing in 2023, DesAnges and her husband Bill spent more than 70 years together with many lasting memories. They were a highly active couple and loved to travel meeting wonderful people along the way. They lived in Yucaipa, CA, and Beacon, NY, due to Bill’s job promotions. They moved back to Winthrop and lived on Maranacook Lake for 16 years. After retirement they spent 18 years in Leesburg, FL, and would always visit Maine in the Summer to be with family and friends. They eventually moved back to Maine permanently in 2018.

DesAnges was an extremely kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and it showed in her beautiful smile and her generous actions. She was filled with so much love, never missing the opportunity to express this love to others. She had a playful spirit about her and appreciated everything that was God’s creation.

Spending hours at a time she found joy playing card games, including Bridge, and various types of board games with family and friends. She was immensely proud of her talent for gardening and landscaping wherever she lived. She enjoyed entertaining people whether it was at her home on the lake or just relaxing on the beach at Reid State Park. DesAnges left us all with great memories and will be sadly missed.

She was predeceased by both her parents, her loving husband, and her seven siblings: Juliette Quirion, Irene Rancourt, Theresa Pare, Philip Coulombe, Omer Coulombe, Anselme Coulombe and Cecile White.

DesAnges is survived by her two children Terry Deane with her husband Beric and William F. White, IV with his wife Michele; her grandchildren Brittany Howe, Tristan Deane, Logan Deane Brigham and Kaitlyn “Katie” White; her great-grandchildren Evan, Trevor, Jace, Noah, Charlie and Josie; and her many nieces, nephews and the many friends who loved her dearly.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine Church in Augusta on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 am with a Reception after at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A Rite of Committal will take place immediately following located at Mt. Hope Cemetery in South Gardiner.
