
OAKLAND – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Esther Ruth Fenlason, a loving mother, grandmother, and steadfast friend, who left us after a short illness on July 7, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on May 2, 1939, in Portland, Maine, Esther lived a life filled with faith, kindness, and purpose, sharing her light with everyone she met.
As a devoted pastor alongside her husband, John, Esther nurtured her community in Oakland, Maine, guiding others on their spiritual journeys. Her strength and dedication were evident in her role as a mother and grandmother, where she created a warm, loving home infused with her sweet spirit.
Esther is survived by her daughter, Doreen and her husband Mike, her son, Kevin and his wife Dianne; and her sisters, Josephine Mayberry and Deborah Mahoney. She also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and the countless lives she touched.
Esther was predeceased by her husband, Pastor John Fenlason.
A memorial service will be held at Veilleux Redington Lawry Brothers, 8 Elm Street, Waterville, on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Many heartfelt thanks to First Church Waterville and MaineGeneral Hospice for their unwavering support during this time.
