Camden Hills boys soccer players celebrate after defeating Lewiston on penalty kicks in the Class A North final. Anna Chadwick/Morning Sentinel

Camden Hills 2, Lewiston 1: The Windjammers came out on top in the teams’ second tight Class A North boys soccer final in as many years, winning on penalty kicks thanks to key saves by goalie Brian Leonard, who was battling an illness days after the death of his grandfather.

Messalonskee 5, Cony 3: A busy day on Colby College’s ice turned into a late night and then an early morning for the Eagles and Rams in a Class B boys hockey playoff game, which started at 10:45 p.m. and ended at 12:35 a.m. It might have gone even longer if Christian Salvadori and Alex Beckwith hadn’t scored goals for Messalonskee in the final 65 seconds of regulation.

Richmond 3, Fort Fairfield 2: A Class D boys soccer championship seemed certain as Richmond led 2-0 in the 67th minute, but two strikes within four minutes by Fort Fairfield’s Cayden Ala tied the game. Richmond’s Gavin Grover accidentally left his cleats at home but still scored the winning goal with 24.5 seconds left.

Thornton Academy 8, Falmouth 6: The Golden Trojans lost to the Navigators twice in the regular season, both times by double-digits, but pulled off the upset of the year in the Class A boys lacrosse championship. Thornton controlled the pace, and goalie Colin Pennell held the undefeated, defending champs to their lowest score of the season.
