Two Farmington men are being treated at a Portland hospital after sustaining serious burn injuries Saturday following a likely propane explosion at a home, officials said.
The victims were identified by authorities on Sunday as Mike Warren, 68, and Jon Bubier, 62, who were reportedly inside cleaning a residence when the explosion occurred. The Farmington Fire Department responded to the reported explosion at 10:21 a.m. at 153 Moore Ave., within a mobile home park, according to a news release from Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety.
Responding crews found both men had sustained significant burn injuries and they were taken by ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, before being taken by LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland for further treatment.
“Preliminary information suggests a propane explosion,” Moss said in the Sunday release, “though the exact cause remains under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.” Moss said the Farmington Fire Department, Farmington Police Department and Maine State Police were all assisting in the ongoing investigation.
