Jeannie “Jean” Cuthbertson Morey
AUGUSTA – Jeannie “Jean” Cuthbertson Morey, 92, of Augusta passed away peacefully at Gray Birch Nursing Home July 4, 2025. Jean went out with a bang, passing while listening to the grand finale of the fireworks display, that she loved so much. She earned her wings and joined her husband and family in heaven.
Jean was born on Oct. 27, 1932, to Robert and Rose Cuthbertson in Rockland, Maine. In 1951 she graduated from high school, fell in love and married the man of her dreams, Wilfred N. Morey, on her birthday. They were married 66 years and had six children, four boys and two girls.
She worked full time while raising her six children, including 23 years as a dietitian at the Osteopathic Hospital in Waterville, Maine until her retirement.
Jean was a cancer survivor and was told in 1995 she had six months to live. Seven operations later: She celebrated Life to her fullest every year on that date. Her family was her life and passion. She loved her flower gardens and her Lilacs.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred “Mickey” Morey Sr.; her parents Robert Sr. and Rose Cuthbertson; her sister, Gladys Parker, brothers Albert and Robert Jr. Cuthbertson; daughter, Marcia Rogers, sons Robert Morey and Scott Morey; grandson, Patrick Morey, granddaughter, Johnna Rogers; and great-grandson, Isiah Boivin.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Glenice Cuthbertson; son, Wilfred Morey Jr. and wife Toni, son, Wayne Morey Sr. and wife Jane, daughter, Karen Emerson and husband Keith; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Kitty Gee and Marion Loftrom. She will be sadly missed by all.
There will be a small private graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield on July 19 at 1:30 p.m.
