Robert “Bobby” Michael Stolt

AUGUSTA – Robert “Bobby” Michael Stolt, 22, went out for his final fishing trip on July 6, 2025. He was born in Augusta on March 2, 2003, to David and Sherrie Stolt.

Bobby graduated from Cony High School in the class of 2021. He went on to Central Maine Community College where he received his associate degree in applied science Electromechanical Technology.

Bobby had a passion for learning and took great pride in sharing his knowledge with others—whether it was about his work, fishing, Maine or any fun fact he had recently discovered.

He worked as an electrician at Assured Solar Energy in North Yarmouth, dedicating himself to his craft with determination and care. He is widely respected and loved by his coworkers. Bobby earned the nickname “Smiles a lot” for his willingness to tackle any and all tasks.

Bobby had a heart and smile that could light up a room. He never met a stranger; everyone was just a friend he had not gotten to know yet. With his easy smile, warm spirit, and sense of humor he always took a genuine interest in others, Bobby made people feel seen and valued wherever he went. He had a gift for lifting others up, whether through laughter, a helping hand, or simply being present. His kindness ran deep, and he loved without hesitation—his family, his friends, his dog, and the world around him. Bobby lived with a rare joy, embracing each day with curiosity, gratitude and a deep love for life. His love of life was infectious, and he made even the simplest moments feel special.

Bobby’s true joy, however, was the outdoors. The outdoors was his church. He spent countless hours on the river, fishing, exploring, and soaking in the beauty of nature. His loyal four-legged companion, Buck, was always by his side. He loved and enjoyed spending time on the Kennebec River, Moosehead Lake, Mount Katahdin, Pierce Pond, Casco Bay and the Maine woods to name a few. Too many places to list.

Bobby shared a special and unbreakable bond with each of his parents. With his mom Sherrie, Bobby shared a profound connection that was rooted in unconditional love. He was her baby, and their wide-ranging conversations would last long into the night. She loved to take care of him and most of all cook for her son. With his mom, Julie, he shared a deep and beautiful friendship. Julie was a constant source of support and love, and Bobby embraced and loved her with all his heart. He had a deep love and admiration for his dad, David. Many a time you could find them together fishing, hunting, golfing, and nurturing his love of the outdoors.

He had a deep love for his siblings, Chelsea, Jordan, Anna, and Cole, each relationship filled with laughter, inside jokes, and unwavering loyalty. He looked up to Cole, shared endless laughs with Anna, had heartfelt conversations with Jordan, and knew Chelsea would always be in his corner. Bobby treasured his role as a brother and was endlessly proud of the family they shared together.

Bobby’s family extended far beyond his home. He found a second family on the baseball diamond and golf course, where he spent countless hours playing the games he loved. The coaches who guided him and the teammates who stood beside him became lifelong friends, brothers and mentors who shared in his victories, his growth, and his unforgettable spirit. Whether cracking jokes in the dugout, recording Bobby’s Blog or encouraging a teammate, Bobby’s loyalty and heart made him someone others could always count on.

While Bobby’s time here was far too short, his family takes comfort in knowing he’s gone fishing, casting his line into still waters, with Buck by his side, the sun on his face, and peace all around him. His love lives on in every ripple of the Kennebec, every breeze across Moosehead Lake, and in the hearts of all who knew him.

Bobby is survived by his parents, Sherrie, Julie and David Stolt; his sisters Chelsea Cookson (Tim), Jordan Stolt (Eric) and Anna Stolt (Joelle), his brother, Cole Cookson (Bianca); grandmothers Sharon Madore and Sandra Stolt; his nephews Wilson, Nash, Theodore and Edwin; best friend, Bryton Kieltyka; and his girl-friend, Erica Dickey. Bobby is also survived by many close and loving aunts, uncles and cousins as well.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers Robert J. Stolt and Wilson J. Ouellette, grandmother, June Franchetti; and great-grandmothers Ethelle Christopher and Phyllis Leach.

Bobby’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all those who worked tirelessly to bring him home. We are forever grateful to the U.S. Coast Guard; Matt Baker and Ray Marion; Matt Wyman and Wes Dean of the Maine Marine Patrol; Andrew Booth of the Bath Police Department; Rick Davis of the Bath Fire Department; and Mark Rockwood of the Brunswick Police Department. Your unwavering dedication, compassion, and strength during our darkest days will never be forgotten. Because of your efforts, Bobby was returned to those who loved him most.

Bobby’s visitation will be held on Wednesday July 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. His memorial service will be held on Thursday July 17, at 11 a.m. at South Parish Congregational Church, 9 Church St., Augusta. A reception for family and friends will follow the memorial service at The Elks Lodge, 397 Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
