Cheerleaders from across the state are living in dorms at Central Maine Community College in Auburn this week to learn new stunts and routines for Saturday’s Lobster Bowl.
A few of the cheerleaders talk to Varsity Maine about the excitement of meeting so many other dedicated cheerleaders — and the challenges of learning to work together in a short time frame.
They also discuss the purpose of the Lobster Bowl, which is to raise money for the Shriners children’s hospitals. The cheerleader who raised the most funds is Abigaile Santerre of Kennebunk, who raised $5,840 while teaming up with the top football fundraiser, Charles Majkowski of Kennebunk.
Varsity Maine will have more coverage throughout the week leading up to the 35th Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lewiston High School’s Don Roux Field. Keep checking back in or sign up for the free Varsity Maine Newsletter to have our stories delivered to your inbox each morning.
