 
Ernestine Rita MacMillan
PORTLAND – Ernestine Rita MacMillan, 87, of Skowhegan, died Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 8:25 p.m., surrounded by her family at Mercy Hospital in Portland, after a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 13, 1937, in Portland, daughter of Rita Dehetre and Ernest Mathieu of Skowhegan.
Ernestine attended school until the 6th grade in Madison. She married Reginald MacMillan on Oct. 5, 1953, in Madison. She was just 15 years old when she got married. She and her husband shared a birthday for 48 years.
She worked for many years in the shoe shop and later owned Mac’s Taxi with her husband, Reginald MacMillan, in Skowhegan. She was also a devoted member of the Rebekahs and Odd Fellows of Maine, with her home lodge being Priscilla Rebekah Lodge #69 of Skowhegan. She held many offices over the years, including serving two different terms as the president of the Rebekah Assembly of Maine. She loved to travel to any Rebekah functions, including out of state, to visit all her sisters and brothers. This was her world, and she was active until her death.
She loved spending time with her family, and in her earlier years, golfing, dancing, and traveling to Florida in the Winter. She was also an avid Red Sox fan, barely missing a game, or staying up till the morning until the game was over.
She is survived by her significant other, Harold Lilly, Jr. of Skowhegan; her daughters Judy Clark-Foster and her husband George of Skowhegan, Carol Pavone and significant other, Gene Bean, of Skowhegan; granddaughters Moncia Kittredge and significant other, Francis, of Skowhegan, Ashley Clark and significant other, Mike, of Waterville, and Gretchen Clark of Skowhegan, grandson, Christopher Kittredge and significant other, Laura, of Milbridge; great-grandchildren, Eben Kittredge-Cram of Standish, Myah Kittredge-Cram of Biddeford, Octavia Hayden of Smithfield, Francis Hayden of Oakland, ColbyKittredge of Machias, Camden Kittredge of Deblois, Aseneth Kittredge of Milbridge and Dakotah Arel of Waterville; great-great-grandchildren, Liam Hayden, and Ernie Kittredge. She was always called “Nana”, through the generations.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Reginald MacMillan; her mother, Rita Dehetre, and her father, Ernest Mathieu.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Christ the King Parish, 283 Water St., Skowhegan, ME 04976. A celebration of life will be held after the funeral at Tewksbury Hall, 6 Weston Ave., Skowhegan. Burial will be at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, at 2 p.m. on July 15.
