Robert E. “Bobby” Allen
SULLIVAN – Robert E. “Bobby” Allen, 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Augusta, on Jan. 14, 1953, the son of the late Henry E. and Gilda (Veilleux) Allen.
Bob attended schools in Augusta and lived with a disability for most of his life. Though his journey was not always easy, he eventually found a sense of peace and belonging in Sullivan, where he lived for many years at Fremont Manor, a residential boarding home. There, he formed deep friendships with both residents and staff, participated actively in a local support group, and found comfort in his faith and the teachings of the church.
He is survived by his sister, Susan McCrimmon; two brothers, Larry and Steven Allen; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 21, from 2-4 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 22, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial and committal prayers will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery on Townsend Road in Augusta.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Northern Light Hospice Services and St. Joseph’s Church in Ellsworth for their compassionate care during Bob’s final months.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared online at http://www.plummerfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any hospice agency, substance use support group, or church – places where others may find the support and hope that helped Bob.
