Alex Allain, Fryeburg Academy junior shortstop/pitcher: One of the top hitters in Class B South, Allain boasted a .484 average (.582 on-base percentage) with eight doubles and five home runs while driving in 15 runs and scoring 28. He also was an effective pitcher, going 3-2 with two saves and a 1.57 ERA.

 

 

Jacob Fish, Thornton Academy senior first baseman: A pure left-handed hitter with an above-average glove, Fish won the SMAA batting title for the second consecutive year, hitting .480. Including the playoffs, the American International College-bound player hit .475 overall with a .573 OBP and a .556 average with runners in scoring position. He had seven doubles, 18 RBI and 15 runs. Fish, a repeat All-Stater, also pitched in seven games and recorded two saves.

Brock Gibbons, Lake Region senior pitcher/first baseman: One of the primary reasons why Lake Region was the surprise team in Class B South (14-5 and two playoff wins). Gibbons was 5-1 with a 0.88 ERA and 0.75 WHIP and threw a no-hitter. He hit .327 with four doubles and three home runs, drawing 23 walks that helped lead to 20 runs scored.

Robbie Hanscom, York junior shortstop: The Western Maine Conference Class B Player of the Year, Hanscom put up great numbers at the plate, batting .560 with a .681 OBP. His 28 hits included eight doubles, a triple and five home runs. He also drove in 19 runs, scored 29 and stole 24 bases.

 

 

Gavin Haggett, Biddeford senior pitcher/first baseman: Haggett, the Varsity Maine Player of the Year, led Biddeford to its first Class A title since 1984 and has committed to play baseball at Division I Stonehill. He went 5-3 on the mound with two playoff wins and a 1.91 ERA, striking out 75 over 40 1/3 innings. He also hit .397 with three doubles, three triples and two homers while driving in 19 runs and scoring 17. In his final three games, all one-run playoff wins, Haggett went 8 for 11 with five RBI.

Trot Moody, Old Orchard Beach junior pitcher/shortstop: The Western Maine Conference Class C/D Player of the Year was dominant on the mound and at the plate. He was 8-0 with 65 strikeouts, a 1.01 ERA and .092 batting average against, while hitting .524 with gap power (five doubles, five triples) to drive in 20 runs and score 28. He also stole 24 bases without being caught.

Parker Morin, Cony junior outfielder: The KVAC Class B Player of the Year hit well with plenty of power. Morin posted a .456 average and .563 OBP, with four doubles, three triples and three home runs. He also drove in 10 runs and added 14 stolen bases.

 

 

Wyatt Nadeau, Gorham senior pitcher/DH: A first-team SMAA pick as both a pitcher and a hitter and a Mr. Maine Baseball finalist, the 6-foot-6, 235-pound right-hander with a 97 mph fastball has committed to play at college baseball powerhouse Vanderbilt. In 42 1/3 innings this season, Nadeau struck out 83 batters. He had three wins, a save and a 1.01 ERA. At the plate, he hit .340 with eight doubles, seven RBI and 11 runs scored.

Liam Scholl, Brunswick senior pitcher/outfielder: Scholl went 7-1 on the mound, beating every Class A North playoff team except Hampden Academy, which he did not face. The future Salve Regina pitcher fanned 75 over 44 innings, with a 2.18 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. He also hit .378 with eight RBI and 10 runs scored.

Tyler Simmons, Falmouth senior first baseman/third baseman/pitcher: Simmons was voted the SMAA’s Most Valuable Player and was a Mr. Maine finalist. He hit .375 with a .456 OBP, knocking five doubles and three homers while driving in 18 runs and scoring 14. He was also 9 for 9 in steal attempts. Simmons will play in college at Assumption.

 

 

Hayden Strout, Foxcroft Academy senior pitcher/first baseman/outfielder: The 2025 Mr. Maine Baseball winner hit .500 with three doubles, four triples, a home run and 31 runs scored. Headed to the University of Southern Maine as a pitcher, Strout was 7-0 with a 2.35 ERA over 35 2/3 innings, striking out 79.

Erik Swenson, Scarborough senior pitcher: The SMAA Most Valuable Pitcher, Mr. Maine finalist and returning Varsity Maine All-Stater, Swenson threw a perfect game and a no-hitter and combined on another perfect game. Over 44 innings, the University of Maine-bound pitcher struck out 70, walked seven, did not throw a wild pitch and had a 0.80 ERA and 0.41 WHIP.

Keeler Vogt, Greely senior pitcher/DH: A finalist for the Mr. Maine Baseball Award, Vogt won three playoff games for the Class B champions to finish the year 9-1 with two saves, a 1.13 ERA, and a no-hitter against rival Yarmouth. A hard-thrower who will play at Colby College, Vogt also contributed at the plate. hitting .340 with 17 RBI.

 

 

Kaysen Wildman, Hampden Academy senior first baseman/pitcher: The KVAC Class A Player of the Year and a Mr. Maine finalist, he hit .469 with a .571 OBP, seven doubles, a home run, 18 RBI, 12 runs and eight steals. On the mound, he was 3-2 with a 1.97 ERA.

Coach of the Year

Keith Leblanc, Biddeford: Leblanc’s Tigers, led by a group of seniors who had never won a playoff game, finished fourth in the Class A South Heal point standings and then battled their way to their first state title in 41 years with a combination of good pitching, excellent defense and timely hitting, securing one-run wins in the regional semifinals (10 innings), regional final and state championship game.
