Regarding the nearly five and a half pages you devoted to a puff piece on Fore Street last Sunday (“Meet the workers who make Portland’s treasured Fore Street restaurant tick,” July 13) … really? With all that is happening in Maine these days, not to mention the wider world beyond Portland, this felt like a waste of space and certainly of my time.

In general, the newspaper spends far too much time fawning over Portland’s food and drink scene, much of which is not accessible to the rest of the state, either because 1) The establishments (Fore Street among them) are too expensive, 2) they are completely flooded with tourists (Fore Street again) or 3) it isn’t worth the hassle to try to find a reasonable place to park in Portland if you don’t already live in one of the many expensive condos throughout the city and can walk or Uber to your favorite overpriced dining establishment.

This is no longer a true statewide newspaper.
