WEST GARDINER – Daniel Robideau, 51, of West Gardiner, passed away during a tragic accident on July 14, 2025. Dan was born Aug. 9, 1973, in Augusta, the son of Clarice and Richard Robideau of Vassalboro. He graduated from Erskine Academy in 1992.
As a child, Dan played basketball and was active in 4-H where he spent time showing horses – something his mother was especially proud of. He was a devoted son and lovingly took care of her through her passing. His love for animals, especially horses, and the outdoors never left him.
Dan was a dedicated and hardworking man – the kind who showed up early, stayed late, and rarely took a day off. He took pride in the recent work he was doing with McGee Construction, leading by example and embracing additional responsibility. Over the years he had also worked for the City of Gardiner, Washburn and Doughty, and Mcgee Farms. He previously volunteered at the Pittston Fairgrounds, and as a volunteer fireman in Pittston.
Dan loved being outdoors, especially on the hottest days. He loved hunting and fishing, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his beloved daughter, Madison. He was a devoted and doting father – the real job he had waited his whole life for. Maddie was Dan’s whole world, and he made sure she always knew it. Being her dad was the role he cherished most; his top priority. Whether they were just riding around in the truck together or grabbing a meal at one of their favorite restaurants – his best memories were made with her by his side.
Dan’s presence was larger than life. He had an enormous circle of friends and somehow kept in touch with all of them. If he called you a friend, you could count on him – no questions asked. He was the guy who’d listen, encourage, and show up every time. When he loved you, you knew it.
He is survived by his daughter, Madison; his sisters Darlene Carter (Scott) of Florida, and Holly Winchester (Kip) of Cape Elizabeth, his brother, Scott Robideau (Debbey) of Augusta; nephews Chandler and Timothy Winchester, Scott Robideau; and nieces Tawnya and Kirsten Tardiff, and Nicole Weymouth.
Dan was predeceased by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Aug. 10 at the Pittston Fairgrounds from 3 to 6 p.m.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Abby Snow and her husband, Dustin Gray, trusted friends of Dan, for their support in carrying out his final wishes; the Maine Warden Service for their care and diligence; as well as the Lary Funeral Home in Dover-Foxcroft. Arrangements are in care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages off condolence and memories may be expressed at http://www.laryfuneralhome.com.
