The University of Maine football team was picked to finish ninth in Colonial Athletic Conference preseason football poll on Wednesday.
The Black Bears finished with 71 points in the voting after finishing 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the conference last season. Rhode Island was picked to win the conference, garnering eight first-place votes. Monmouth was picked second (four first-place votes), followed by Villanova (two first-place votes), Stony Brook and New Hampshire.
Also Wednesday, Maine kick returner Trevin Ewing was named to the preseason all-conference team. Quarterback Carter Peevy, linebacker Christian Thomas, defensive back Jamaree Gibson and defensive back Devi Vaught were picked as honorable mentions.
