Mark William Hewett

READFIELD – Mark William Hewett, 60, passed way at home surrounded by family and loved ones on July 21, 2025.

Mark was born in Augusta on April 21, 1965, son of William and Carlene Hewett of Readfield. He graduated from Maranacook High School in 1983. Mark was raised with three brothers and three sisters. They lived on a farm, where he learned to have a great work ethic.

Mark had various jobs throughout his life. He worked as a brick layer and foreman for custom masonry for many years, he also worked for Ed Hodson and George Pynn for a few years each. He ended his career as a maintenance man for Stewart Property Management overseeing three buildings in Augusta.

Mark was a volunteer coach for Maranacook. His favorites were football and baseball. Mark also was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Manchester. He served as a greeter, a deacon, and an elder.

Mark married Kimberly Mason in 1987. Mark enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. He loved helping people. He had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Hewett; his daughter, Nicole Farnham and husband Zachary, his son, Justin Hewett and wife Ashley, his son, Brent Hewett and wife to be, Kasey Larson; his nine grandchildren, Logan, Brady, Chloe, Eli, Paityn, Karyn, Vera, Bryn, and William. He is also survived by brother, Colin Hewett and wife Beth, his sister, Gloria Hewett, his brother, Stanley Hewett and wife Kim, his sister, Carol Bradstreet and husband Richard, his brother, Allen and wife Laura, his sister, Jody Zarella and husband Vince; his mother-in-law, Sharilyn Uhl and husband Ron, mother in-law, Jan Mason; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, William Hewett, mother, Carlene Hewett; his uncle, Stanley Bisbee and his children Keith and Cindy Bisbee; his father-in-law, James Mason, and sister-in-law, Karyn Truman (Mason).

Mark would like to praise God for his most loving wife, Kimberly; he would also like thank all the people who supported us through this difficult journey. The family would like to thank all the staff at the cancer center, Dr Donnor, staff at Maine General, Dr Illias, and the Maine General Hospice Team; you are all amazing people. Thank you to everyone at Hope Baptist Church for your prayers and support. Also thank you to all the family and friends who supported us. Mark is eternally grateful.

Mark’s funeral service will be on Saturday Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church, graveside service to follow immediately at East Readfield Cemetery.

Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
