Diane Crowley

SKOWHEGAN – Diane Crowley passed away June 30, 2025, after a long illness. She was born Diane Mae Perkins on March 16, 1936, to Hermeone Thelma and Clyde Perkins in Skowhegan, Maine.

She graduated from Skowhegan High School and married Vaughn Palmer of Skowhegan in 1955. On June 30, 1956, Diane and Vaughn welcomed their daughter, Nancy, into their family.

Diane graduated from a Med Tech program at Redington Fairview Hospital and spent years working at the laboratory in Redington-Fairview and later Mid Maine in Waterville until retirement. In 1978, Diane graduated from Atlantic Union College with a B.A. in English.

Diane loved knitting and sewing. In her fifties she took up quilting, for which she went on to win awards. She was also an accomplished watercolor artist and was active in her church along with the Skowhegan Historical Society.

Diane was preceded in death by her husbands, Vaughn Palmer and Tom Crowley, and her sister, Geraldine McKinney. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy, son-in-law, Theodore Nelson; and grandchildren, Brittany and Schuyler Nelson.

Calling hours will be at Somerset Valley Remembrance Center located at 19 Washburn Lane in Skowhegan, Maine, on August 1, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Private graveside service to be held at a later date.
