Karla Jean Prouty
PORTLAND – Karla Jean Prouty passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in Portland. She will be missed by family, friends and colleagues who appreciated her cheerful nature and kind spirit.
Karla was born on Dec. 13, 1959, in Hartland. She graduated from Nokomis Regional High and Beal Business College, where she earned a paralegal degree. Karla worked as a legal assistant in Bangor, relocating to Portland in 1993. She was initially employed at Victoria Mansion, but for the past 24 years, she worked at the Ronald McDonald house, where she was devoted to its mission of keeping families together in times of need.
Karla treasured her nieces and nephews, seeking connections with them through their interests and always willing to be a trusted counsel. She was a passionate Boston Bruins fan and had the opportunity to see her beloved team play at the TD Garden. An integral part of family gatherings, Karla could be counted on to help with food preparations and was always up for a game of contract rummy with her siblings.
Karla is survived by her four siblings: Karen Prouty and her husband Mark Rollins; Kevin Prouty and his wife Marie Lagman; Karole Ann Clark and her husband Lucky; and Ken Prouty and his wife Karen Weinstein. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Sean Rollins, Ryan and Kyle Prouty, Kaden Clark, Allie and Simon Prouty. Karla is also survived by her stepfather, Earl Forbus, and her cousins, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her parents, Elwood Prouty and Beverly (Finnemore Prouty) Forbus.
