When my wife and I went to vote in our first election, after moving to Maine 35 years ago, we were both surprised when the clerk only asked for our names. We both had our photo ID out to prove who we were, but were told it wasn’t necessary.
Since that day, I have believed that requiring a government-issued photo ID is important for the security of our elections here in Maine. Voter ID is vital to restore trust and confidence in our elections.
I invite everyone to learn more about voter ID by visiting VoterIDforMe.com and also voting “Yes” on Nov. 4 for the future of Maine.
