Mikkel Goling drove a shot from outside the penalty box past Portland keeper Hunter Morse in the 37th minute, lifting One Knoxville SC to a 1-0 win over the Hearts of Pine in a USL League 1 match Saturday night in Tennessee.
Hearts hadn’t lost since July 2 against AV Alta FC, but they didn’t put a single shot on target against Knoxville, which is among the top contenders in USL1.
Goling’s goal came after the Danish midfielder gathered a pass in a central position outside the box. His shot found the corner of the net to Morse’s left.
The game kicked off another busy stretch for Portland, which hosts a friendly against Halifax Wanderers FC on Wednesday at Fitzpatrick Stadium, then plays at home again Saturday in a USL1 match against the Richmond Kickers.
