Something seriously needs to be done to avert more problems in Washington County regarding health care. With the Medicaid cuts — and cuts to who knows what else — and the failings of Northern Light Health, we are on the verge of a potential long-term problem. Another entity, such as Maine Health, needs to take over or expand operations here. The closure of clinics, the limiting of hours of operations and the lack of available facilities for treatment is appalling.
Well-to-do people come here on a seasonal basis. They have no idea — or are just totally ignorant — of the poverty that exists as one ventures inland just a few miles from the coast. The lack of facilities and the threat of more of them closing is unacceptable in 2025; all this hoopla about waste, fraud and abuse.
The current administration should look at itself in the mirror … hiding the costs of refurbishing a new Air Force One, when we already have one; golfing trips on our dime, while using the guise of trade deals; bitcoin scams and family business deals … while people in this country are scrimping by. The total lack of human decency toward immigrants, the people of Gaza, where is the outrage?
I’m sorry, I digress. The list goes on and on. I can no longer be silent.
