Bonnie Raitt will give you plenty to talk about in Bangor. With a career that has earned her 13 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for “Just Like That” in 2023, the singer and guitarist has released 18 albums since 1971. Tunes you likely know and love include “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” “Angel from Montgomery” and “Nick of Time.” Jimmy Vaughan & Tilt-A-Whirl Band open the show with blues, rock and roots.
‘The Irish…and How They Got That Way’

The Public Theatre and Maine State Music Theatre present a co-production of the musical revue “The Irish…and How They Got That Way.” The resilience, humor and always present spirit of the Irish will take center stage. Along with humor and storytelling, the revue, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt, includes the classic ballads “Danny Boy,” “Rose of Tralee” and modern tracks from U2.

‘The Bikinis’

Lincoln County Community Theatre knows summer isn’t over yet, and they’ll prove it with their production of “The Bikinis.” Billed as a “musical beach party,” the show celebrates friendship, fun, and songs from the ’60s. Vocalists Kelly Caufield, Victoria Hamilton, Emily Mirabile and Rebecca Rinaldi will knock your socks off with tunes like “It’s in His Kiss,” “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and “Heat Wave” during a show about a girl group from the Jersey Shore who reunite two decades later to raise funds for the Sandy Shores Mobile Home Beach Resort.

The time to dance is on Friday in Portland. One Longfellow Square, usually a seated venue, is putting away most of the chairs to create a dance floor. A dozen musicians and singers comprise Funkationland, and they’ll be serving up tunes by Tower of Power, Chicago, Huey Lewis and the News, Earth Wind and Fire and Chaka Khan, among other acts. Bust a move into Labor Day weekend.
Camden Windjammer Festival

Over the course of two days, Camden celebrates its rich maritime heritage with majestic windjammers and a festival packed with a ton of events. The festival includes a lobster hauling demonstration, radio-controlled boat races, Camden walking tours, the Schooner Bum talent show, live music from Creatures of Habit and the Bay Winds North Ensemble and the Poodles and Paddleboards race, among other enticing offerings.

Old Port Square is teaming up with Fête Market to present the Old Port Makers Market in Portland’s Old Port on Saturday. More than 30 local artists and makers will sell their wares at the open-air gathering. Shop for a range of art, ceramics, jewelry, soaps, cutting boards and more. In the event of rain, the market will take place on Sunday. Mark your calendar for the following one too, on Oct. 18 (rain date Oct. 25).
