Heron Valley

Two performances by Heron Valley are planned this week.

The first performance is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor, 86 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor.

On Thursday, Heron Valley will perform at 7:30 p.m. at Old South Church, 235 Main St., Farmington.

Tickets are $27.50; farmingtonucc.org.

The band captures the iconic sounds of the bothies, village halls and kitchen ceilidhs, traditional Scottish social gatherings. The history of the Great Highland bagpipe, and the West Coast fiddle mixed with the driving accompaniment of the piano and guitar is what audiences can expect to hear.

Windsor Fair

The Windsor Fair runs through Monday at the fairgrounds located at 82 Ridge Road, Windsor.

The large agricultural fair will feature a large exhibition hall, Rockwell Amusements midway, livestock and agricultural education, pulling events, harness racing everyday but Wednesday, live music, demolition derbies, Woodsman’s Day, Black Cat Hell Drivers Auto Stunt Thrill Show and more.

The hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, except Labor Day when the fair will shut down at 6 p.m.

‘Dracula’

Lakewood Theater plans to stage “Dracula” at various times through Sept. 6 at the 76 Theater Road theater in Madison.

Performances times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 3-6; 4 p.m. Sunday; and 2 p.m. Sept. 3.

This lightning-fast, laugh-out-loud, gender-bending romp begins when sister Mina falls ill with a mysterious disease of the blood, Lucy Westfeldt and her fiancé, Jonathan Harker, enlist the help of famed female vampire hunter Doctor Jean Van Helsing. Their hunt for the dangerous and sexy Count Dracula abounds with clever wordplay and quick-change antics. Five actors play over a dozen roles in this bloodcurdlingly hilarious send-up of the literary classic.

Bonnie Raitt with special guest Jimmie Vaughan and The Tilt-A-Whirl Band are set to perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Maine Savings Amphitheater, 1 Railroad St., Bangor.

Raitt sings a blend of blues, rock, R&B, folk and pop, characterized by her distinctive slide guitar. She’s known for her ability to weave together different genres and create a unique, personal sound.

Wiscasset Art Walk

The next Wiscasset Art Walk is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Thursday on Main Street in Wiscasset.

The summertime celebration of art, music, performance and history highlights artist-owned galleries and the village’s collection of boutique shops and antique stores.

Look for music in the galleries, and performers, artists, and community groups on the sidewalks.

All events are free and family-friendly with free parking throughout the village.

Little Lies — Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band

The band takes on the legendary sounds of Fleetwood Mac.

Sandy River Music Festival

The Sandy River Music Festival will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at Narrow Gauge Cinemas, 123 Narrow Gauge Square, Farmington.

Chase Winn is a songwriter and performer from western Maine. His style blends folk, country, and blues influences to create an Americana sound reflective of the rugged, rural foothills and rivers where he resides.

He has honed in his chops performing with The Chicken Street Band while being featured on 207 Maine, and as an opening act for The Mallett Brothers band and Griffin William Sherry.

Bailey’s Mistake

A free concert featuring Bailey’s Mistake is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Waterfront Park, Maine Avenue, Gardiner.

Celtic-inspired band is part of the Free Waterfront Concert Series. There will be food vendors, children’s activities like face painting and balloon animals and more. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Harmony Free Fair

The Harmony Free Fair, remaining free of charge for admittance and parking since its inception, opens Friday and runs through Monday at 1 Fairway Lane, Harmony.

Events include an exhibition hall, live music, truck pulls, live demonstrations, daily scavenger hunts, The Silver Circus, events for children and more.

‘Deathtrap’

through Sept. 7 at Waterville Opera House, 1 Common St., Waterville.

Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29, 30, Sept. 5 and 6; and 2 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 7.

Comfortably ensconced in his charming Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a dry spell, which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. A possible break in his fortunes occurs when he receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college — a thriller that Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway smash. Sidney’s plan, devised with his wife’s help, is to offer collaboration to the student for co-credit. Or is it? Deathtrap provides twists and turns of devilish cleverness, and offers hilariously sudden shocks in such abundance that audiences will be spellbound until the very last moment.

Owen Conforte

The Quarry Tap Room plans to host Owen Conforte at noon Sunday at 122 Water St., Hallowell.

Conforte will perform a fun set of covers from the 1970s to today.

For more than 15 years, the guitarist and vocalist has been in demand as a performer, educator and music producer. He has shared the stage with artists such as Otis Redding III, Delvin Choice, Cyril Neville, Dave Gutter and Spencer Albee, to name a few.

When Conforte isn’t leading his cover band OC and the Offbeats, his talents have been featured in groups such as the Tony Boffa Band, Gina and the Red Eye Flight Crew, Dean Ford and the Beautiful Ones, The Fogcutters Big Band, and more.

From his home recording studio in Lewiston, Owen teaches online guitar lessons to students all over the United States.
