Four Portland Hearts of Pine players were named to the USL League One Team of the Week on Tuesday.
Ollie Wright and Walter Varela were named to the weekly starting lineup, while Titus Washington and Nathan Messer were named as reserves. Wright had a goal and an assist in Portland’s 3-2 win over Westchester SC on Sunday. Washington and Messer each added a goal, while Varela had two assists.
Portland improves to 5-4-9 in USL1 play. It is tied in points for the eighth and final playoff spot with Union Omaha (7-10-3) and the Greenville Triumph (6-9-6). Portland has played two fewer games than Union Omaha and three less than Greenville. Portland hosts the fifth-place Charlotte Independence (8-6-7) on Saturday at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
