Mainers are debating over election security and voter ID. Many say our elections are riddled with fraud, despite a complete lack of evidence. This is mostly a Republican effort to restrict the participation of people they feel are more likely to vote Democratic.
To see the hypocrisy of it all, we need only look to Texas where, at President Trump’s command, the Texas Legislature is poised to reconfigure congressional maps in order to win five more seats in Congress and ensure Republican control of the House.
This effectively silences the voices of thousands of citizens to have the representative of their choice. Where are the cries for voter integrity and every vote should count? Republicans know they can’t win fairly, so they’re trying to rig the system.
In November, we will be encouraged to vote and have our voices heard. What’s the point if one side changes the rules to guarantee they will always win?
