Sharon Pamela Williams
WINTHROP – With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sharon Pamela Williams, who peacefully made the journey to heaven on Sept. 1, 2025. She was born in Augusta on March 28, 1943, to late parents Ida and Eugene Fortier. Sharon lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering strength.
She was known for her warmth, generosity and love for watercolor painting as a juried artist in Boothbay Harbor and Damariscotta art communities. She thrived in gardening and cooking, always sharing her abundance. Always ready for adventure, whether on day trips in Maine, winters in Florida or famous mother-daughter trips abroad and the Caribbean. She dedicated time as the President of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church woman’s club, raising funds and organizing successful events.
She lived in Camp Lejeune, N.C. and Newport, R.I. before returning to her home in Maine.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Raymond Williams; and her children, Laurie Gigante and her husband Anthony of Wayne, grandson, Timothy Leichliter of Kauai, Hawaii, Kevin Williams and his family in North Carolina; sister Nancy Fleury.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Williams, parents, Ida and Eugene Fortier, sisters, (Babe) Dilahunt, Elnora Buzzell and brother Eugene Fortier II.
Her Mass of Christian Catholic burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Winthrop.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ho‘omalu Ke Kai in her name. Meaning “To actively protect the ocean” in Hawaiian, this community ocean conservation group started by Sharon’s grandson, Timothy, is working hard on Kaua to restore Kauai’s coral reefs, upcycle ocean plastic waste into art and functional materials, and create opportunities for local underprivileged next generation ocean protectors to learn and get involved every step of the way. You can donate to Ho’omalu Ke Kai’s efforts in honor of Sharon Williams at hoomalukekai.com/donate
Her legacy of love, compassion and resilience will forever inspire those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed forever and cherished in our hearts; she believed in life’s beauty with all her heart and soul.
