You know a musical is going to be sensational when it was written by Cole Porter. Set on an ocean liner on its way from Manhattan to London, the smash Broadway hit “Anything Goes” features classic Porter tunes including “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top” and the iconic title song, all with fresh arrangements, lively choreography and a terrific local cast. High seas adventure, complete with romance, mistaken identities and plenty of comedic turns await.

Maine Open Lighthouse Day

If you love lighthouses, this is the day you’ve been waiting for. The United States Coast Guard, the Maine Office of Tourism and the American Lighthouse Foundation offer access to more than a dozen of Maine’s 66 lighthouses across the state. During Maine Open Lighthouse Day, the public can tour several, and in some instances climb the stairs for a look at the lens — not to mention fantastic views. The list includes Burnt Cove Harbor Lighthouse, Portland Head Light and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.
Big Falls Music & Cider Fest 4

New Gloucester is the place to be on Saturday for hours of live music by Maine artists. Big Falls Music & Cider Fest features performances by Connor Garvey, Louisa Stancioff, Sunburned Sharks, Band Beyond Description, Spencer Albee & The Speed of Sound and Dr. Fuzz (d.j.). There will also be plenty of food trucks and craft beverages. Activities include disc golf and lawn games and an art market. Want to spend the night? A car camping pass is $65.87 (per car) or tent camping is $44.62 (per tent).
Portland Sex Fair

Spice up your Saturday with an educational and entertaining experience at Salud in Portland’s Bayside neighborhood. The Portland Sex Fair includes love tarot readings, a Q&A with sex therapist Jennifer Wiessner, sensual dance class with Dr. Magill Chapman ($13 fee), burlesque dance class with THEM ($15 fee) and an intuitive eating discussion led by Jessica Perry Sinclair and Leigh Kellis. There will also be live music by Laurence Kelly. While you’re there, enjoy snacks and cocktail samples.
Maddie & Tae

Country singers Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye started singing together 15 years ago. The debut Maddie & Tae album “Start Here” includes the single “Girl in a Country Song,” which takes aim at the stereotypes of women depicted in country music songs. Two albums have followed, including this year’s “Love & Light.” The heartfelt, harmony-rich track “Heart They Didn’t Break” is closing in on 20 million Spotify streams. “Sad Girl Summer” is a foot-stomping, upbeat anthem and “Free Like” is a sassy romp that tells a boyfriend what for when he asks for space.

Farmington Fair

The Farmington Fair is a huge, multi-day affair with a packed schedule. Highlights include horse racing, dairy shows, pulling ring events, kids’ pie eating contest, the Miss Farmington Fair pageant, Drag Your Neighbor car race, demolition derby, animal exhibits and of course the midway with classic carnival rides.
