The top six squads in the season’s first Varsity Maine football poll did nothing since to lose their standing in the latest rankings.

Thornton Academy is still No. 1, followed by, in order, Portland, Bonny Eagle, Kennebunk, Cony and Falmouth. Thornton and Portland each garnered four first-place votes, while Bonny Eagle received one.

Cheverus (ranked eighth), Greely (ninth) and Fryeburg (10th) moved into the top 10 this week.

The Varsity Maine football poll is based on games played before Sept. 16, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
