The GOP has recognized that education poses a challenge to its agenda. In response, it has appointed figures like Linda McMahon, known for her background in the World Wrestling Federation, as secretary of education.
Funding for public schools has been systematically reduced. At the same time, sympathetic courts have facilitated the redirection of public resources toward private schools, while any resistance to the prevailing agenda is met with punitive measures. As a consequence of these policies, rural American towns are left to shoulder the financial burden by relying on property taxes and limited state funding. Schools in these areas struggle with deteriorating facilities, chronic teacher shortages and insufficient community support, often leading to tax revolts and widespread unrest.
These issues are not accidental but rather appear are part of a broader strategy. By keeping rural America uninformed, uneducated and frustrated, the GOP fosters an environment where communities vote against their own best interests. Key media outlets such as Fox News, Newsmax and Facebook play a central role in shaping and reinforcing this narrative.
Ultimately, people possess the power to resist and enact change through their vote. The GOP is acutely aware of this fact and is actively working to restrict access to voting. Increased presence of ICE agents at polling locations should not come as a surprise.
