Crazy was the theme of the first two volleyball polls of 2025. Things like teams receiving first-place votes not receiving enough total votes to show up in the top 5. In fact, last week, more than five teams received first-place votes. The sport is growing, and so is the Varsity Maine volleyball poll, which is now a top 10.

Washington Academy is still No. 1. (Programming note: Varsity Maine will publish a story soon about the Raiders.) Thornton Academy is still second. York (third) and Scarborough (fourth) swapped places, and Edward Little is still ranked fifth.

The next five teams are joining or rejoining the poll: Greely, Kennebunk, South Portland, Gorham and Gardiner.

The Varsity Maine volleyball poll is based on games played before Sept. 23, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
