A 21-year-old Whitefield man was killed Sunday when his motorcycle left Vigue Road and struck trees.
Shortly before 11 a.m., first responders were called to a location near the Windsor town line for a report of a single-vehicle motorcycle crash.
According to a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250 was headed north on Vigue Road when it went off the road. The operator, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed and driver inexperience appear to be contributing factors, officials said. The operator’s identity was not released Sunday to allow for family notifications.
Vigue Road was closed until about 1:30 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who has information related to the accident is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Sgt. Scott Hayden is the primary investigator.
In addition to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Whitefield Fire and Rescue, Windsor Fire and Delta Ambulance also responded.
