Pumpkin Patch Trolley

The 27th annual Pumpkin Patch Trolley is rolling at the Seashore Trolley Museum. A heritage trolley will bring you to a pumpkin patch where you can choose your favorite to bring home. At the museum’s visitors center, supplies will be available to paint your pumpkins. There’s also a cookie walk, photo scavenger hunt, craft room and festival fall photo backdrops all over the grounds. Add to the fun by donning a costume and participate in the social media costume contest for a chance to win a 2026 family membership.

Hurricane Meadows Fall Festival

The Hurricane Meadows Fall Festival is one-stop shopping for a whole lot of fun. Activities include a 5-acre corn maze, rides on the Bee Train, paintball range, potato cannon, gigantic jumping pillows, pick-your-own pumpkins and sunflowers, and more. You can also pick up fresh apple cider donuts. Saturday, Nov. 1, the last day of the festival, is also Pumpkin Destruction Day to put a messy end to any leftover pumpkins. You can help smash them with baseball bats and mallets. Best of all, pumpkins will be loaded onto a helicopter and dropped onto old cars.

Freeport Fall Festival

For three days, downtown Freeport will be host to the annual Freeport Fall Festival, featuring more than 225 juried artists, makers and food producers. You’ll also find eight food trucks, including Pinky D’s Poutine Factory and The Ugly Dumpling. Kids can enjoy several activities like hands-on science with Katie Coppens. The festival also features more than 40 live music performances, along with yoga, pilates and dance classes at the L.L. Bean Discovery Stage, the Mallard Stage and the M.A.D.E. Stage.

Swine & Stein Brewfest

There will be plenty of beer, food, music and merriment at the annual Swine & Stein Brewfest in downtown Gardiner. Schedule highlights include the frozen T-shirt race; Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship; and the beard and mustache competition. Sample all day from more than 20 breweries, wineries, distilleries and meaderies.

Fall Foliage Festival

Oct. 11-12. Boothbay Railway Village, 586 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay, $5, free for 5 and under, $5 train rides. railwayvillage.org.

Now in its 57th year, the Fall Foliage Festival at Boothbay Railway Village is a popular event for locals and visitors. Events and activities include a local, vintage and handmade vendor fair, antique car museum, model railroad, village goats and train rides. The festival also features live music and plenty of food and drinks from several vendors, including Nita’s Hot Dogs and Caribbean Comfort, as well as and a cider and whiskey bar.

Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta

It’s a full-on pumpkinpalooza at the annual Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta. On Saturday, there’s a pumpkin pancake breakfast, pumpkin boat building, pumpkin dessert contest and pumpkin parade. Sunday’s activities include the pumpkin derby, KidsZone, pie eating contest and the Pumpkinfest Regatta, a race with boats constructed from giant pumpkins trying to stay afloat on the Damariscotta River. Things wind down on Monday with the Tour de Gourd 5K race, pumpkin hunt and pumpkin drop.

North American Wife Carrying Championship

The annual North American Wife Carrying Championship at Sunday River is challenging for participants, but a whole lot of fun to watch. Winning couples win the wife’s weight in beer, and five times her weight in cash. It all takes place on a 278-yard obstacle course, and if you’d like to participate, the fee is $38 per couple. The event is part of Sunday River’s Fall Festival, which also includes the Blue Mountain Arts & Crafts Fair and New England Cornhole Championship.

Harvest Festival

10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 13. Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, 707 Shaker Road, New Gloucester, free. maineshakers.com.

The annual Harvest Festival at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village packs a whole lot into one day. The schedule includes live bluegrass by Albert Price and the Pseudonym, 19th century music by Paul and Sally Wells, traditional craft demonstrations, tintype portraits by Cole Caswell, beekeeping demonstrations, wagon rides, tours, face painting, lawn games, museum exhibits, food trucks and more.

40th Annual Harvestfest

9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 18. York Beach. gatewaytomaine.org.

York Beach is the spot for a festival celebrating its 40th anniversary. This year’s Harvestfest features live music from Freight Train and Dan Blakeslee, local food, juried crafters and market vendors. There’s also plenty for children to do. Kidsfest includes storytelling, interactive activities and a roaming railroad.

Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival

Noon-8 p.m. Oct. 18. L.L. Bean campus, Freeport. campsunshinepumpkinfestival.org.

Thousands of jack-o-lanterns will be assembled and lit in Freeport at the annual Camp Sunshine Pumpkin Festival. The event is a guaranteed good time with live music, entertainment, a kids’ costume parade and all sorts of treats. All funds raised go towards Camp Sunshine’s mission to provide hope, joy and community through experiences for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

OgunquitFest

Oct. 24-26. Downtown Ogunquit and surrounding locations. ogunquit.org.

For more than two decades, Ogunquitfest has been a three-day celebration of autumn. Events and activities include a classic car show, Dogtoberfest costume parade, the High Heel Dash, artisan craft fair with more than 50 vendors and plenty of food trucks. Attendees will also be treated to live music at the Dunaway Center and Dorothea Jacobs Grant Common.

Harvest on the Harbor

Oct. 30-Nov. 1. Maine Studio Works, 170 Anderson St., Portland, $75-$110. harvestontheharbor.com.

Over three days, Maine’s culinary creativity takes center stage with a trio of delicious events. Thursday features the Maine Pour cocktail event where you can sample crafted cocktails mixed with Maine-made gins, vodkas, bourbons and rums. Friday’s Maine Lobster Chef of the Year contest is a friendly competition between local chefs, and everyone’s taste buds are winners. Saturday’s finale is From the Sea: A Culinary Voyage + Oyster Shucking Competition with locally harvested seafood, seaweed and ocean-inspired offerings.
