As in boys and girls soccer, a tie was not kind to the previous No. 1 team in the Varsity Maine field hockey poll. A 2-2 draw with Lewiston on Monday knocked Skowhegan to No. 2 behind Cheverus, which tops the poll for the first time this season.

The Stags, who have won six straight since a season-opening draw with Biddeford, received six of the nine first-place votes, while two went to Skowhegan and one to new No. 3 Yarmouth.

Tuesday’s tie elevated Lewiston into the rankings at No. 10.

The Varsity Maine field hockey poll is based on games played before Sept. 30, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
