The Varsity Maine volleyball poll has been wacky all season. So it’s not a big surprise to see York lose the one first-place vote it received last week and still move up a spot to No. 2 in the latest poll.
Washington Academy gained York’s first-place vote and one other this week, giving the Raiders seven and further solidifying their position atop the poll. York swapped spots with Thornton Academy, which received the other two first-place votes.
Gardiner, bolstered by a win over Edward Little, moves up from 10th to sixth, while Cheverus/Waynflete and Narraguagus join the rankings at eighth and 10th, respectively.
Washington, York and Narraguagus are the state’s only remaining unbeaten volleyball teams.
The Varsity Maine volleyball poll is based on games played before Sept. 30, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
