Lawrence High School’s Maddie Provost, one of the state’s top girls basketball players, committed to NCAA Division I program Holy Cross on Thursday.

The senior from Albion announced her commitment on Instagram. She also had scholarship offers from the UMaine, Bryant, Colgate, Merrimack, New Hampshire, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Sacred Heart and Stonehill, among others.

Provost averaged 20.9 points, 4.6 assists and 3.1 steals last season, when the Bulldogs went 19-1 and lost to Camden Hills in the Class A North semifinals. In Provost’s career, Lawrence is 57-6 and won a Class A state title in 2022-23.

As a sophomore in 2023-24, Provost was selected as Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A Player of the Year. She was chosen to the Varsity Maine All-State team in 2023-24 and 2024-25.

Holy Cross, located in Worcester, Massachusetts, went 19-12 last year under first-year coach Candice Green. The Crusaders made NCAA tournament appearances in 2022-23 and 2023-24.
