A Waterville Parks & Recreation crew spends Friday morning erecting a sukkah for the weeklong Jewish festival of Sukkot, which began Monday and ends Oct. 12. The hut is open to the public daily, generally closing at 10 p.m. each evening in Castonguay Square in downtown Waterville. It is open for use most of the day except for some reserved event times Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings. On Friday, a Kabbalat Shabbat service is set for 6-8 p.m. in the sukkah. Other events include a community potluck and art celebrations. (Hannah Kaufman/Staff Writer)
