CAPE ELIZABETH – David C. Donahue, born April 19, 1932, in Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Sept. 28, 2025, at the age of 93, surrounded by his family. Throughout his long life, David exemplified devotion to family, faith, and country. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose legacy is defined by his guiding principles: “Family first, love one another, and leave things better than you found them.” David’s warmth and joy were evident in his love of dancing, singing, and celebrating life with those around him.

David’s commitment to service was reflected in his proud tenure with the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, after which he was honorably discharged. His patriotism was matched by his appreciation for his Irish heritage, often expressed through music and tradition—serenading his family while carrying his shillelagh and wearing his tweed cap. A devout Catholic, David’s faith and generosity were central to his character, guiding his actions and relationships.

David was predeceased by his parents; siblings; first wife, Marcelle, and their children David A. Donahue, Timothy Donahue, and Daniel Donahue. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Julie.

David is survived by a large and loving family. This includes his daughter, Kathy, her husband Thomas, grandchildren Jennifer, Amy, and husband Royce, Scott and his wife Amber, Philip and his wife Whitney, and great-grandchildren Kelsie, Kaylie, Kyle, Adrian, Dierks and Benton; his stepchildren Steven, Karen, Susan, Michael, Mary, Lisa and husband Corey, Anne-Marie, Michelle and husband David, Andrea and husband Kurt, Jason and partner Taffy, and their children and grandchildren; his granddaughter Devon, her husband David, and their son Joshua. He is also survived by his grandson, David, his wife Laura, and their children Alaina and Mathew. Additionally, he leaves behind grandchildren Joshua, partner Penney and great-grandson Joshua, as well as grandson Matthew and great-granddaughter Emmalee, among many other family, great-grandchildren and loved ones.

We celebrate David’s legacy and the wonderful memories he leaves behind. David cherished his loved ones and lived each day with purpose and heart. His life was a gift, and his memory will forever be a blessing.
