Cheverus remains on top of the Varsity Maine field hockey poll after dealing Biddeford its first loss of the season, but second-place Skowhegan closed the gap behind the Stags with a pair of big wins. The River Hawks dropped out of the top spot last week after a draw with Lewiston, but they responded with a 5-1 win over Class B North contender Gardiner and a 3-0 victory over Brewer.

Yarmouth won a showdown of undefeated B South teams against Freeport, but
Belfast’s 4-0 victory over seventh-ranked Messalonskee moved the Lions into a tie for third with the Clippers.

Despite their setbacks, Freeport and Messalonskee remain sixth and seventh, respectively, while Sanford, Lewiston and Scarborough changed places in the bottom three of this week’s rankings.

The Varsity Maine field hockey poll is based on games played before Oct. 7, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
