Using a link on the Maine Monitor’s website, I watched the video of the Justin Savage arrest several times.
Having spent 35 years in a job that required frequent training and retraining in techniques for deescalating potentially physically aggressive situations, it looked to me that Trooper Ritland was doing a more than reasonable job of helping Justin Savage calm down before additional troopers joined the situation, which quickly deteriorated from that point.
Admittedly my input was limited to the video and there are always other things to know outside of one source of information.
