I have ridden my bike throughout Waterville at least five times a week since April. This ride was between 8 to 12 miles. I have discovered several things:
• Running a red light is very common. Yellow lights mean speed up.
• Drivers rarely stop for pedestrians to walk on crosswalks.
• Vehicles are unregistered and/or uninspected.
• Drivers smoke in cars with small children.
• Drivers leave dogs in the cars in extreme temperatures.
• Drivers are on their cellphones looking down. Some people can/should not do two things at once.
During my travels, I saw one marked and one unmarked police car in all that time. Where are they?
On the other hand, I must wonder, if drivers were given tickets, how much would that reduce taxes for Waterville citizens.
