Skowhegan broke open a close game by scoring on its first three possessions of the second half en route to a 34-12 win over Brunswick in a Class B football game Friday in Brunswick.

Brunswick (1-6) grabbed an early lead on an 11-yard pass from Robert Bowen to Jacob Austin. Skowhegan (2-5) tied it on a 3-yard run by Aydan Mulcahy, then went ahead 14-6 late in the first quarter on a 10-yard pass from Austin Lancaster to Jason Aubin, who made a diving catch over the middle.

Mulcahy also scored Skowhegan’s final TD on a 9-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

LEAVITT 34, MESSALONSKEE 0: Randan Hutchinson rushed for two touchdowns and the Hornets (5-2) rode another stellar defensive performance to a win over the Eagles (3-4) in Oakland.

A week after Leavitt shut down previously undefeated Gardiner in a clash of Class C contenders, the Hornets were equally dominant against Class B Messalonskee.

Brody Poland opened the scoring with a 23-yard run in the first quarter. Hutchinson made it 14-0 in the second quarter with the first of his two 5-yard TD runs.

In the third, Nick Mellen took a short pass from Landon Marquis and rambled into the end zone for a 26-yard TD. Hutchinson and Landen Reny (15 yards) tacked on scoring runs in the fourth.

Hutchinson gained 110 yards on 16 carries.
