Some years ago, a young Maine woman who was a candidate for Rockland’s Seafood Festival queen got disqualified because of Facebook photos of her using marijuana. At the time, I wanted to offer local schools a presentation on the perils of social media. Everything a kid (or an adult) puts onto social media cannot be erased. Add tattoos to this.
It would be a timely for schools to teach the risks of posting stuff to the internet, and use Mr. Graham Platner (and many others) as an example.
There was once a rhyme about illicit affairs by married men, when communicating to a lover, “Say it in pearls, say it in mink, but for heaven’s sake, don’t say it in ink” — because it will come back to haunt the adulterer in divorce proceedings. Today? “Say it in pearls, say it in sweets, but for heaven’s sake, don’t say it in tweets.”
