An unguarded election process is a threat to all of us. If only a few votes make the difference in the choosing of one candidate over another, as is often the case, then every vote is critical to ensure an accurate and secure election. Without this confidence in the integrity of Maine’s elections, the will of the people in our state is in question and in jeopardy. This would make us no better than many Third World countries.

Voter ID will fix that. It is totally reasonable to require that someone proves their identity before being allowed the privilege of casting their vote. I, for one, want to be sure that each candidate is legally elected. If others believe this too, then vote “Yes” on the Question 1 referendum Nov. 4 to safeguard Maine elections.
