AUGUSTA – Edward Rockwood Gerrier, 84, passed away Oct. 24, 2025, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. He was born on Nov. 4, 1940, a son of Wilfred and Jessie (Rockwood) Gerrier.
Ed grew up in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1958. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably for two years before his discharge in 1962. On Oct. 16, 1965, he married Nancy Cote and the two eventually made their home in Sidney, where they raised a family.
Ed was employed by the Kennebec Journal in his younger days, but primarily worked at Westinghouse Electric, later known as Eastern Electric for many years. Ultimately, Ed retired from Cooper Weymouth Peterson in 2002.
During his retirement years, Ed and Nancy enjoyed spending winters in Hilton Head, South Carolina. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, kayaking, and hiking.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Gerrier.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Gerrier; his sons: Edward Gerrier Jr. and his wife Pamela, Clifford Gerrier, and Barry Gerrier; four grandchildren: David Dionne and his wife Laura, Jessica Dionne, Hannah Gerrier, and Travis Gerrier; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A committal service will be held on Friday, November 7, at 9 a.m., at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Ave., Augusta, ME 04330.
