The state finals are set and most of the teams competing are ranked in the Varsity Maine volleyball poll. The Class A playoff results, however, have caused upheaval in the poll.

Thornton Academy knocked out Scarborough, Class A’s top seed, and that garnered the Golden Trojans a first-place vote and moved them from sixth in last week’s poll to fourth. Thornton will face Gorham, which is gunning for its third consecutive state title, in the Class A championship. The Rams received two first-place votes and are now ranked third.

York remains No. 1, and its foe in the Class B title game, Washington Academy, moves up to second. Washington is the defending state champion, but the Wildcats defeated the Raiders a few weeks ago.

Gardiner has made its way to the Class C final, a playoff run that impressed voters enough to propel the Tigers up two spots to No. 7. They’ll face Mount Desert Island, which received the 11th-most votes in the poll.

The state’s lone unbeaten team, Narraguagus, will play for Maine’s first Class D volleyball title against George Stevens Academy, which received a few votes. Narraguagus won the previous two Class C titles.

The Varsity Maine volleyball poll is based on games played before Oct. 30, 2025. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
