FARMINGTON — The Hight Family of Dealerships demonstrated its deep commitment to community service this fall by hosting two highly successful First Responder Appreciation BBQs at its Farmington and Skowhegan locations. The events were designed to honor and thank the local heroes whose dedication keeps area communities safe.
On October 17, Hight Chevrolet GMC in Farmington held its annual First Responders Appreciation BBQ. The dealership team, along with co-sponsors, served and delivered approximately 200 meals throughout the day. In addition to welcoming responders at the dealership, the team ran non-stop delivery routes, bringing hot lunches directly to local departments and stations throughout the local areas, including Rumford, Livermore and Jay.

The event was a significant community collaboration. Ned’s Bakes & BBQs worked the grill, cooking burgers and hot dogs, while B&B Bakery and Beyond provided cookies. The team from co-sponsor OTIS Federal Credit Union played a vital role all day helping to pack the numerous delivery orders.
“It was an honor to serve you,” the Hight team shared in a Facebook post. “Your dedication keeps our community safe, and we appreciate every single one of you!”

Earlier in the season, on September 11, Hight Ford hosted a First Responder BBQ, choosing the poignant anniversary to celebrate and honor local heroes. The event featured catering and grilling by Joe’s Flat Iron Café and goodies from The Bankery. A surprise donation of Gifford’s Ice Cream Sandwiches was also enjoyed by the guests.
Embodying the spirit of community giving, the Hight Ford team cooked up the remaining food and delivered it to the staff at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. The hospital staff was delighted and appreciative, reassuring the team that none of the food would be wasted.
Both events underscore the long-standing Hight Family of Dealerships tradition of giving back and celebrating the essential workers who protect and serve the community. The dealerships expressed their gratitude to all the first responders and look forward to continuing the tradition next year.
