“I said ‘My brother!’ and then ‘I think I stepped on your foot.’

“I was very nervous and the whole thing was surreal. I wondered if we’d get along. But it turns out we’re like twins, down to some very small mannerisms and how we see the world.”

Former American Idol finalist Julia Gagnon, who began looking for her brother after her birth mother died in Guatemala in 2024. The search ended with a joyful reunion in North Carolina last week.
